Gratitude comes easily to Oona. Her heart lifts at the simple beauty of everything she sees. This makes it hard to reconcile her feelings about life, generally. Life should be easy, because of air, and clouds, and sun and moons. But Oona is noticing that life doesn't seem an easy place to seek joy. Somehow, she forgets about snowflakes and pine needles and finds herself thinking about someone's tone of voice for hours. Today Oona is resolving to give her needy brain a puzzle to puzz. She gave it an unanswerable question at dawn, and will now go back to looking at the fire lick up the chimney and giving thanks.
